The Blue Mountains and Sydney

Sydney was a huge city! We stayed in Wake up Hostel and got a bacon and egg roll for breakfast everyday! Brilliant.

Sydney, from Google Earth.

We toured the city, went on a sunset cruise, went to the markets, travelled to Featherdale wildlife park and China town.
We also went abseiling in the Blue Mountains national park and got to go down a 90 foot drop, very scary! And i'm not even scared of heights.
We all took loads of photos, i've tried to narrow it down to my favourites.

The blue mountains.

Amazing scenery of the Jamison valley.

...

Peaks known as the 'three sisters'.

The Blue Mountains are located in New South Wales in Australia and are about 50km from the state capital Sydney. It consists mainly of a sandstone plateau with gorges up to 760m deep, the areas highest point is Mount Werong at 1,215m above sea level.
It is an area of extreme natural beauty and was listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2000. There is a rumour that the blue mist that comes off of it is caused by eucalyptus trees, which the koalas get high off, not really sure how much truth there is in this story, but the koalas seem to be high on something!

And so we move on to Sydney (the most expensive place to live in Australia):

Welcome to Sydney, a bustling city with similarities to New York City and London.

The city is characterised by tall buildings, much like Manhattan in NYC.

Hyde Park in Sydney!

One of the many water related features in Sydney.

The drinking fountain in Hyde Park.

The discoverer (European) of Australia!

One of the parks.

Fountain in the park.

Walkway looking a lot like London does by the natural history museum.

Me by THE Sydney fountain.

Queen Victoria's statue.

Part of the business district, again looking very NYC.

Oxford Street in Sydney! The place is a shrine to London.

Part of the harbour.

A war memorial.

Outside on the harbour cruise.

Sydney is a great place to go as there is so much to see and do and some great places to stay. The markets are a great place to check out for souvineers as it sells the same stuff that they have in the shops but for half the price!!
The main problem with Sydney is that it's VERY expensive, and Australia is expensive already (In comparison to UK/USA/Canada) so you will need plenty money!
Wake up hostel is great though, not as good as Gilligan's in Cairns but almost there!
